GP Support
Sandwell LMC provides advice and support to assist GPs as they steer through the NHS. As an independent body we can act as an advocate and offer help on all matters relevant to general practice. The Local Medical Committee offers confidential advice and pastoral support if you are having problems in relation to a wide range of issues including, but not restricted to: the GMS Contract, practice problems, and partnership difficulties.
National Representation and Negotiation
LMCs ensure the voice of local general practice is heard at National level. This is done by consulting with the General Practitioners Committee of the BMA (GPC). Sandwell LMC attends the Annual Conference of LMCs, alongside those from the GPC, where policy is debated. Practices are invited to put forward issues of concern which the LMC can turn into a motion for consideration at the conference. The outcome of the conference debates determines the framework for the profession’s negotiations at both national and local levels.
